2013 Aussie Junior MX Results

Thousands of riders and their families descended on the rural city of Horsham, Victoria last week to take part in the 39th annual Australian Junior Motorcross Championship. This year saw almost 350 riders line up to do battle at the Horsham Motocross Arena, and only 13 go home with a coveted national Australian motocross title.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty, was at the track during the event and said it was great to see a national championship of this calibre in his local electorate. “This is where it starts, junior athletes coming together to compete at a national level and prepare themselves to become champions – right here at the Dooen racetrack in Horsham.” Delahunty said. The championship is one of the biggest events on Motorcycling Australia’s national calendar, taking place in a different state each year. Horsham was chosen to follow up Coolum, Queensland’s success last year and have set a new benchmark in the event’s success.

As the dust settled over the Horsham Motocross arena on Friday afternoon, parent’s loaded their kid’s bikes onto trailers, bound for home, some as far away as Western Australia. Race officials finalised the Overall results, club volunteers began taking down signage that prominently announced KTM as new sponsors and the kids, went back to being kids and played while the sun still shone on an amazing spring day.
