TRIUMPH’S FARRES WINS MXGP OF FRANCE
Triumph’s Guillem Farres claimed his first-ever Grand Prix victory at the MXGP of France with a dominant 1-1 result, while teammate Camden McLellan backed him up in second overall – a historic result for Triumph Factory Racing in only their second season of MX2 World Championship competition.
Since entering the MX2 World Championship, Triumph Factory Racing has been steadily building toward a Grand Prix victory, and with their growing list of off-road achievements, it was only a matter of time until we would see Triumph triumph. Round 6 of MXGP’s 2026 season in Lacapelle-Marival, France, was where that moment finally arrived. Farres went 1-1 on his TF250-X to claim his first-ever GP win, with teammate McLellan finishing second overall on a historic day for the British manufacturer.
Farres was close to flawless all weekend. In moto one he started third, moved through to the lead within a couple of laps and controlled the race from there. Moto two was more dramatic as he again started third, trailed McLellan and Janis Reisulis before making his move for the lead with three laps remaining. McLellan
pushed him hard to the end, but Farres held on for the win and the perfect scorecard. The result has halved Farres’ deficit to championship leader Simon Langenfelder to just 20 points, with six rounds remaining.
McLellan was equally impressive, as a tough start in moto one didn’t stop him working through to third, and in moto two he got off the line cleanly, shadowed Farres for the duration and twice drew alongside his teammate in the closing stages. He couldn’t quite make the pass, but second on the day was a more than deserved result. The South African remains fifth in the championship standings.
Next up is the MXGP of Germany at Teutschenthal on May 30–31.
