BEATON TIGHTENS HIS GRIP AT TOOWOOMBA

Jed Beaton was near-untouchable at Echo Valley in Toowoomba, winning both MX1 motos at Round 4 of the Australian ProMX Championship to extend his championship lead to 40 points, while Yamaha dominated across the board by taking seven of eight wins on the day.

Halfway through the 2026 ProMX season and Beaton is doing his level best to make this title fight a one-horse race. The Monster Energy CDR Yamaha rider went 1-1 at “Tbar” to extend his MX1 championship lead to 40 points over defending champion Kyle Webster (Honda), who was an innocent victim of a turn-one pile-up in moto one and could only salvage second in the finale – ultimately a costly day for Webster’s title defence.

Across all four classes, Yamaha riders won seven of the eight motos contested, a remarkable team performance underlining just how strong the BLU CRU’s depth is heading into the second half of the season.

MX1

Beaton was clinical all day, avoiding the moto one chaos at turn one, which took out Webster and Dean Ferris (Kawasaki) among others, and cleared out for a comfortable win over Aaron Tanti (Yamaha) and Nathan Crawford (Honda). In moto two, Webster pushed hard but Beaton responded with the fastest lap of the race when it mattered most, stretching the gap to three seconds at the flag.

Tanti backed up his moto one runner-up result with fourth in moto two for P3 overall on the day, and has now moved to within 10 points of second in the championship. Crawford was equally consistent going 3-3.

MX2

A day of contrasts for the MX2 field, as Alex Larwood (Honda) won moto one but crashed early in moto two and nursed a sore shoulder to the finish. Noah Ferguson (Yamaha) had the reverse, a nightmare moto one that saw him fall twice and finish 14th, before an extraordinary moto two comeback from near-last on lap one to a 10-second winning margin at the flag.

The round honours went to Kayd Kingsford (Honda), who is just three weeks out of collarbone surgery and went 2-2 for P1 overall to close the championship gap to Larwood to just 11 points. Dylan Walsh (KTM) came in P2 overall, with Ryder Kingsford (Honda) in third.

MX3

Privateer Hayden Downie (Yamaha) was a class above, going 1-1 to take the round win. Championship leader Hayden Draper (Yamaha) went 2-2 to extend his lead to 35 points, and Seth Morrow (Honda) rounded out the podium in third.

MX85

Blake Bohannon (Yamaha) wrapped up the MX85 Cup series undefeated with eight rounds and eight wins. There was a brief scare in moto two when he face-planted into the mud and dropped to fourth, but he reeled in the leaders and hit the front with two laps to go. The 13-year-old NSW rider will now compete in the final two MX3 rounds after receiving age dispensation.

Round 5 of the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship heads to Appin, NSW on June 14. For full results and standings, head to the ProMX website.
