Tenere Tragics Tassie Devil Run

The 2017 Tenere Tragics Tasmanian Devil Run has wrapped up over the weekend with the official Farewell Awards dinner presented by Yamaha and bLU cRU at Smithton in the far north-west corner of the Apple isle. Just over 1800km and five days of sensational weather produced a Tragics Run that will be well remembered as one of the very best ever. Brilliant riding, fabulous socialising, minimal mechanical issues and not one hospital visit made for a week of non-stop Tenere goodness. And to top it off, Yamaha Yamalube factory Dakar racer Rod Faggotter made a surprise guest appearance and rode with the Tragics pack for the final two days, alongside MX legend Stephen Gall.

Amongst a feast of post ride awards dished out by ride organiser Andrew ‘Captain Tragic’ Clubb, the Truly Tragic award was split between Tragics first timer Matt Parker-Charlton, who rode the event on a first model 1983 XT600ZL, and 100% Tragic  Col Hayden, who has not missed a single Run in seven years. Also recognised at the Awards dinner was Mudgee, NSW, rider Chris Kirk, who has built a sensational Sonauto replica XTZ750 Super Tenere. The pristine blue beast drew Rod Faggotter to comment: “If only I was born 20 years earlier, I could have raced Dakar on a bike like this.” With the Tassie Run complete, the Tragics are heading home to all mainland states of Australia, with Odin Cann set to rack up the biggest miles of all – all the way back across the Nullabor to home in WA. Details of the 2018 Tenere Tragics Run will be announced soon – keep watch on the Tenere Tragics accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
