BETA’S NEW “ALP” MODELS – WHAT ARE THEY?

If there’s one thing you can never accuse Beta of, it’s shortchanging consumers when it comes to choice. Take a moment to do the math on the Italian manufacturer’s model offering. In addition to their four 2027 motocross machines, Beta also offers the XTrainer 200 and 300, an eight-model RR X-Pro range, and an eight-model RR Race range. That’s 22 different machines, covering everything from a 125cc two-stroke to a 480cc four-stroke. And the crazy thing is that that tally doesn’t even include Beta’s Trial bikes, or their swag of smaller-capacity Enduro and Motard models available in other markets around the world!

So, what are these “ALP” models that Beta has recently started spruiking here in Oz? Well, Beta’s ALP is not entirely new (the ALP 4.0 has been available in some other countries for a few years now), but the ALP models are new to Australia. And for 2027, the more off-road capable ALP 4.0 will be joined by the ALP X – Beta’s first stab at a road-going, scrambler-style bike; a machine that comes with smaller wheels (19” front and 17” rear), less ground clearance, different bodywork and headlight, and a taller final drive ratio, but otherwise shares the ALP 4.0’s component spec.

Word on the street is that Australian Beta dealers are excited at the prospect of broadening their customer base with the addition of these new ALP models. And why wouldn’t they be, given the things are both priced at less than $10K (that’s a Ride Away price tag, too!) and will tap into the fast-growing lightweight adventure bike market?

According to an equally enthused Beta Australia, “The new ALP range further expands Beta’s Australian model line-up and provides riders with an affordable entry into adventure motorcycling without compromising on quality or capability. Both motorcycles are LAMS approved and feature an accessible seat height, upright riding position and slim ergonomics, making them an ideal choice for newer riders, returning riders or experienced adventure riders looking for a lighter, less intimidating alternative to larger-capacity adventure motorcycles.”

Here’s an excerpt of the info and images that Beta Australia revealed about the new ALP model range, which is due to land in Aussie dealers in late September, 2026…

Designed to redefine lightweight adventure riding, the new ALP range combines Beta’s renowned rideability with exceptional versatility, approachable performance and outstanding value. Best of all, both models will be available at just $9995 ride away.

At the heart of both motorcycles is a responsive 348cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected DOHC single-cylinder engine, delivering smooth, usable power. Paired with a six-speed gearbox, the engine offers relaxed highway cruising while maintaining plenty of torque for winding backroads and off-road adventures.

Despite their accessible price point, both models are packed with premium features. For example:

  • A modern TFT colour display provides riders with a crisp, easy-to-read interface displaying essential information (including speed, gear position, fuel level, remaining range and other key vehicle data), ensuring everything needed for the journey is always at a glance;
  • Braking performance comes courtesy of quality calipers (Nissin front), complemented by switchable Bosch ABS, allowing riders to disable the ABS when venturing off-road for improved control on loose terrain; and
  • Long-travel suspension delivers a comfortable ride across a wide variety of surfaces, while the lightweight chassis and low overall weight inspire confidence for riders of all experience levels.

Although sharing the same platform, each model has been purpose-built for a different style of adventure…

BETA ALP 4.0

The Beta ALP 4.0is the more off-road focused machine, featuring a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination, providing greater confidence on rough trails, rocky terrain and loose surfaces. Combined with its generous ground clearance and capable suspension, the ALP 4.0 is ready to explore well beyond where the asphalt ends.

BETA ALP X

The Beta ALP Xtakes inspiration from classic scrambler styling, pairing rugged capability with everyday road comfort. Equipped with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, the ALP X delivers agile handling around town while remaining perfectly capable on gravel roads and scenic touring routes. Distinctive styling and premium finishes give the ALP X a unique personality that stands out wherever it goes.

ACCESSORIES

Complementing the Beta ALP range comes a range of accessories consisting of luggage and protection parts so riders can customise their ALP to suit their needs.

TARGET MARKET

Both motorcycles are LAMS approved (awaiting formal state-by-state approval) and feature an accessible seat height (865mm for 4.0 and 855mm for X), upright riding position and slim ergonomics, making them an ideal choice for newer riders, returning riders or experienced adventure riders looking for a lighter, less intimidating alternative to larger-capacity adventure motorcycles.

The new ALP range further expands Beta’s Australian model line-up and provides riders with an affordable entry into adventure motorcycling without compromising on quality or capability.
