Review: EVS R4 Neckbrace

WHAT IS IT?

A low-profile and affordable neck collar that is both lightweight and comfortable.

WHY WE RATE IT

Ever since neckbraces have been available, one of the biggest disincentives for riders to wear one has been price. When they were first available, they were expensive, and many still are. So EVS has decided to capitalise on this by introducing an effective neckbrace for an affordable price.

At just 635g, the EVS unit is light and comfortable to wear on long rides. Like other braces available, the R4 can be worn with or without the shoulder straps, but we found the brace moved around considerably under braking and acceleration when worn without them. With an M2R helmet, the brace still allowed plenty of mobility and vision, while still maintaining the ability to disperse force in the event of a crash.

PRICE

Available at RRPs of $149.95 (Adult) and $129.95 (Youth). Product distributed in Australia by www.mcleodaccess.com.au
