Product Spotlight: Renthal 7/8” Handlebars

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

Even since bending their first aluminium tube into a handlebar in 1969, renowned UK-based handlebar manufacturer, Renthal, has been constantly evolving its technology, manufacturing processes and product range, with their recently released all-new R-Works Fatbar36 boasting weight and strength stats that put it at the pinnacle of handlebar tech.

But because Renthal knows not everyone wants or needs a Pro-level $360 handlebar, they’ve sharpened their pencil and cut $20 off the RRP of the vintage-look silver-coloured handlebar – an evolution of Renthal’s venerable ‘7/8-inch’ Handlebar that laid the foundations for the brand’s legacy some 50 years ago. Created out of the necessity to produce a 7/8-inch (22.2mm) dirt bike handlebar that could meet the demands of the world’s best riders, the all-aluminum 7/8-inch handlebar was born; made from an alloy specifically developed for handlebars, with properties that reduce vibration and rider fatigue.

The latest iteration of the 7/8” Handlebar uses the same 7010 T6 aluminum found in Renthal’s Twinwall and Fatbar bars, and is produced using a highly advanced 15-step manufacturing process. Combined with a cross-brace to improve stiffness (for rider control), and coupled with patented cross-brace clamps, Renthal 7/8” bars are claimed to provide riders with the perfect amount of flex while maintaining the strength to resist bending in the event of a crash.

For a comprehensive rundown of 7/8” Handlebar styles, colours and dimensions, check out Renthal’s website (which includes a range of MX/Enduro, Mini MX, Trial, ATV, Vintage and Speedway handlebars). Every 7/8” Handlebar comes with a Renthal injection-moulded foam bar pad.

COLOURS: Black, Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Titanium, Grey, Silver

RRP: $119.95 (Silver bar); $139.95 (all other colours)
