Product Spotlight: Leatt’s New Hydradri Gear

4 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

For a majority of people in dirt bike circles, the brand Leatt is synonymous with innovative protective products; a company best known for its ground-breaking Leatt-Brace neckbrace in 2006 and the revolutionary C-Frame kneebrace that appeared in 2013. But in the years since, the South African-based brand has been busily expanding and now offers a wide range of high-quality products for both moto and MTB riders – from helmets to boots to protective garments to goggles to gearbags to hydration packs to casual gear. You name it.

And for 2023, Leatt is ramping up its line of moto riding gear – in particular, its high-end enduro/adventure gear that offers riders superb defence against cold temps and wet weather without compromising their comfort. Case in point, Leatt’s all-new 4.5 HydraDri Jacket and Pant. So, let’s take a closer look at this trick new kit…

4.5 HYDRADRI JACKET

Designed to keep you warm and dry on the wettest of rides in the worst of conditions, the 4.5 HydraDri Jacket is all-new for 2023 and offers even better protection against the elements than Leatt’s existing range of jackets – the 5.5 Enduro, 4.5 Lite and 4.5 X-Flow.

The HyrdraDri jacket – as the name suggests – achieves its superior waterproof qualities by the addition of a three-layer waterproof and breathable membrane that’s bonded to the inside of the jacket, making it perfect for heavy rain and wet snow. As well as not allowing water in, this high-tech material allows moisture to be expelled to help keep you cool. And if the sun should make an appearance, there are ventilation zips in the front and back to control your body temp and maintain comfort.

There are five storage pockets (which use high-quality YKK zippers), as well as adjustment in the waist, neck and wrists for a better fit. Meanwhile, the tailored waist length fit is designed to work with or without body armour, and the collar will accommodate a Leatt neckbrace.

4.5 HYDRADRI JACKET – STANDOUT FEATURES

  • Lightweight, waterproof and breathable with stretch materials for mobility
  • HydraDri EVO Membrane (20K/20K waterproof/breathable)
  • Five storage pockets and four zipped ventilation points
  • Tailored cut for moto riding with or without body armour
  • Constructed with multi-row reinforced stitching
  • Brush guard reinforcement in shoulders and elbows
  • Top-quality YKK Japan waterproof zippers
  • Rear reflective safety print
  • Neck collar that works with or without neckbrace

RRP: $479.95

4.5 HYDRADRI PANT

Looking for a pair of comfortable, waterproof and breathable riding pants to take on your off-road adventures? Leatt’s all-new 4.5 HydraDri in-boot pants have got you covered. Like the jacket, the HydraDri Pant uses a combination of stretch materials and Leatt’s own three-layer, waterproof, breathable membrane to create a lightweight and comfortable feel – more like a traditional riding pant, rather than the ‘conventional’ slippery and uncomfortable waterproof products on the market. All of which means you can ride in sublime comfort, even if you’re splashing through rain or snow.

The inner knee pads are made from soft leather for increased comfort and better grip on the bike. And with three pockets for storage and ventilation zippers on each side, you’ve got built-in comfort and practicality.
