Product Spotlight: Bell Moto-3 Helmet

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

Released in 1979, the Bell Moto-3 was THE original that started it all; the response to a wave of new riders ignited by the booming sort of motocross. Tested a developed by Bell champions – such as Bob Hannah, Roger DeCoster and Larry Roeseler – it offered a smaller and lighter fibreglass shell, a contoured shape that protected the nose, mouth and chin, and slotted air vents with the first fully integrated dust filter. Offering protection way beyond any other prior helmet and looking like nothing else on earth, the Moto-3 was immediately adopted by a huge cross-section of the sport’s top racers and became the standard by which all others were measured. No wonder it’s one of the most celebrated and copied helmets in motorcycling’s history.

As you may know, Bell resurrected its iconic Moto-3 some years ago now, but for some reason never offered it in the original white colourway. Well, they’ve now addressed that oversight by re-introducing the “Classic Gloss White” Moto-3 – a lid that remains everything it once was style-wise, with the added benefits of modern safety and production advancements. From the fibreglass composite shell to the EPS-lined chin bar, Bell left no detail unpolished.

RRP: $449.95
