First Look: 2019 Husqvarna MXers

8 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Husqvarna Motorcycles

After a week’s R&R in the US, Transmoto’s Digital Content Manager, Jarrad Duffy, is in sunny Florida this week for the international media launch for Husqvarna’s 2019 motocross range; a launch set to take place at the infamous Baker’s Factory, the complex owned and operated by motorcycle trainer cum masochist, Aldon Baker.

Today, a couple of days prior to Duffballs’s opportunity to throw a leg over the five all-new machines, Husqvarna Motorcycles revealed the first images of the 2019 bikes, along with an insight into the changes we’ll see on them. And while there’s not much detail in Husky’s first batch of PR about their new bikes, the mods for 2019 certainly seem to mirror those that appeared on KTM’s 2019 MX range, which we tested in Italy a month ago.

But in addition to the expected mods – frames that are torsionally stiffer, sweeping engine upgrades to both two- and four-strokes, weight savings across the board, and all-new ergos – the 2019 Huskys also get upgrades to their plastic composite subframes, swingarms, and completely new bodywork that’s distinctively different from their KTM counterparts.

Here’s the info supplied by Husqvarna, along with some images of the 2019 machines:

Featuring a new chassis and engine platforms aimed at improving handling, power delivery and further weight reduction, Husqvarna’s MY19 motocross range offers professional and amateur riders the highest level of technology available on the market today.

Each of the five MY19 models sets the benchmark in their respective classes. Standing out among a long list of upgrades for MY19 is the all-new blue-coated frame that offers increased rigidity for improved rider feedback and stability.

With all models receiving vital engine upgrades, the flagship FC450 has a redesigned cylinder head that reduces the engine’s weight by 500g. Showcasing Husqvarna Motorcycles’ commitment to pioneering design in the competition bike segment, a fresh and distinctive new bodywork offers advanced ergonomics for optimum comfort and control.

Coinciding with the launch of the 2019 motocross models is Husqvarna Motorcycles’ cross-country line-up, consisting of three premium FX and TX models. Developed for closed-course competition, the all-new FX and TX models are set up with an 18-inch rear wheel for a quality off-road riding experience and are also partnered with a larger fuel tank.

Utilising a similar platform as the 2019 motocross range, the cross-country motorcycles also feature and all-new frame and two-piece subframe design. The swingarm has a 5mm extended adjustment range for improved straight-line stability; among all other advancements for 2019.

Coinciding with the introduction of the 2019 motocross machines, Husqvarna Motorcycles offer an exclusive range of clothing and dedicated technical accessories, the line-up specifically developed for the new generation of Husqvarna models.

According to Husqvarna Motorcycles in Australia, the 2019-model MX and cross-country ranges will start arriving in Australian dealers in August. Prices are yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, stay tuned for Jarrad Duffy’s first impression of the new MXers.
