DISSECTED: RUBEN CHADWICK’S AHEC-WINNING BETA
How do you set an enduro bike up to deal the flesh-wounds and flogging it’s bound to suffer on the gnarly obstacles that litter every round of the Australian Hard Enduro Championship (AHEC)? And what sort of parts and accessories can be fitted to minimise the damage to its vital organs?
At a recent 2024 model-launch staged by the guys from Beta Motorcycles Australia, we holed up the 2023 AHEC’s title-winning Ruben Chadwick and his dedicated technician, Ash Martin, for an insight into the special parts that Ruben’s Beta RR300 Racing runs, and how its laconic and talented man-mountain of a machine man-handler likes the thing set up.
And for you tech types, we’ve even added a table (see below) with a comprehensive list of parts fitted to this very special Beta – some of which didn’t get a mention in the video.
NOTE: A post-production word of warning from Ash Martin: “Hey, just so your audience knows, the reason Ruben’s race was looking pretty ‘scarred’ in the footage is that, besides new tyres, the thing was filmed literally as it finished the last round of the AHEC series – where it took an absolute beating!”
So, enjoy – battle scars and all…
