What it Means to be a Weekend Warrior…

6 years ago | Photos: Donat O'Kelly

One of the main reasons Transmoto’s Enduro Events continue to sell out so quickly is their fun atmosphere and the fact entrants respect their laid-back spirit. And we’re constantly mindful of keeping that spirit on-track. The reason we dish out $2 plastic trophies is that we don’t want people to care too much about who wins. Our events have always been about grassroots fun; a reason for us all to leave the worries at home for a weekend of riding bikes and enjoying a few cold tins with mates. So, in order to celebrate that ethos, we decided to create a new ‘Weekend Warrior’ team category this year. The fast guys still get their trophies, but the main gong goes to the average Joes. The problem is, the Weekend Warrior guideline we set (“no rider to have ever raced professionally”) didn’t really capture the category’s spirit. So, we’ve made some adjustments. To legitimately enter your team as a Weekend Warrior, you need to tick these three boxes:

  1. No team rider to have ever raced professionally;
  2. Paid your own entry fee; and
  3. No business or sponsor hook-ups (no free gear/parts, factory hook-ups or dealer support).

If the shoe doesn’t fit (and you’ve already entered the 8-Hour at Stroud as a Weekend Warrior), don’t stress. But do email us at events@transmoto.com.au and request that your entry is shifted into the ‘Open’ team category.
