MXGP DOUBLE PODIUM FOR TRIUMPH

4 months ago | Photos: Triumph

Triumph Factory Racing has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, with both Guillem Farres and Camden McLellan standing on the overall podium in second and third. This double podium arrives after Triumph’s recent AMA Supercross SMX Next win at Daytona, and Jonny Walker’s runner-up result in the 2026 FIM SuperEnduro Championship – again adding to Triumph’s already extensive list of achievements in their relatively short time in professional off-road competition.

Competing aboard TF250-X machinery in Argentina for the season opener, the teammates were in fine form all weekend, with their podium results the perfect reward for their efforts. Clearly at one with his Triumph machine and enjoying the fast, rough, and rugged Bariloche circuit, Farres was in excellent form as he finished second in the MX2 Qualifying Race.

As the gate dropped for Race 1, Farres reacted quickly, and emerged from the first turn in sixth. Guillem was soon up to fourth, and he held his position for the entire race until he moved into third on the penultimate lap. Race two was similar to the first for Guillem, who after executing another strong start, held third early until he went off track and slipped back to fifth. Delivering a late-race charge, he moved into fourth to secure second overall on the day, and second in the championship standings after Round 1.

McLellan also enjoyed a solid weekend in Argentina to make it a Grand Prix to remember. A fall from sixth in Moto 1 did little to deter the South African, who dropped to ninth after the incident, before making his way back up the leaderboard to sixth at the finish. The 21-year-old was seventh early on in Moto 2 and made several decisive passes throughout the race to claim second. The result ensured McLellan placed third overall, sharing the podium with teammate Farres to kick off the season on an incredibly positive note.

With an exceptional result for Triumph Factory Racing at Round 1, the team will now look ahead to Spain this weekend for the MXGP of Andalucia.

Guillem Farres:
“I was a bit cautious in the opening laps of the opening moto. As the race went on though, I started to feel better and found a good rhythm, which helped me work my way up to third, so I was happy with that result. In the second race my start wasn’t the best, but I made some quick passes early on and moved into third. I was battling with a few riders and pushing hard, but after a small mistake where I ran off the track I lost a bit of ground. From there I focused on bringing it home and ended up finishing fourth.”

Camden McLellan:
“It was a good weekend for us here in Argentina, finishing third overall and sharing a double podium for the team with Guillem in second, which is a great way to start the season. Sunday was definitely better for me. I still struggled a bit with the starts, but I managed to make up ground quickly in the opening corners. In the first race I found a good rhythm and started closing in on the top three, but a small mistake and a crash cost me a lot of time. I fought back well after that and finished just outside the top five. In the second race I had a slightly better start and was able to work my way through the field, making several passes and pushing hard all the way to the end. I closed in on the riders ahead but just ran out of time. Overall, it’s a solid way to begin the year, and now the focus is on keeping that consistency and staying off the ground.”
