Australia’s Todd Waters has signed with the Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing team, to contest the MX1 class at the 2014 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Waters has five Junior National titles under his belt, and finished second Overall in last year’s Monster Energy MX Nationals MX1 title chase. Currently racing for the Motorex KTM Racing squad, he sits second Overall in this year’s championship, 25 points shy of first place. After contesting last year’s event, Waters was also recently selected to represent Team Australia at this year’s Motocross of Nations in the Open class.

Next year, Waters will aim to join the likes of Chad Reed, Jeff Leisk, Dean Ferris and the late Andrew McFarlane, landing on the top step of the FIM Motocross World Championship podium. Joining Waters in the MX1 class will be South African born Tyla Rattray, while in the MX2 class, the all-new Factory Husqvarna team will field Romain Febvre and Alexandr Tonkov.

Finnish Motocross legend, Antti Pyrhönen, is to manage the Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing MX1 team, and brings with him a wealth of first-hand experience in MX and personal association with the Husqvarna brand. “Ice One Racing is pleased to welcome our new riders Tyla Rattray and Todd Waters, both from outside Europe, to the World Championship series,” commented Team Owner, Kimi Räikkönen. “The new Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory team is aiming for the top. We believe it can be reached by our dedication to the sport, and by the commitment of our riders and their determined will to win,”
