Todd Waters Extends Husky Partnership

You won’t meet a nicer, more genuine bloke than Todd Waters. The 2019 Australian MX champ is engaging, approachable and amusing, and goes out of his way to generate added value for his sponsors and fans. And in 2021 and 2022, he was also the only active Pro motocrosser who took it upon himself to contest two national series concurrently: the Australian ProMX Championship and the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC).

Well, for season 2023, Waters appears to be scaling back a little on his racing commitments so he can ramp up his involvement in the suspension tuning business he recently bought, and to take on the role of both racer and team manager with Husqvarna’s official national MX/SX racing team. Here’s the PR from Husky HQ explaining their extended partnership with Todd Waters…

Husqvarna Motorcycles is joining forces with former Australian MX1 Champion, Todd Waters, to lead the official Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia supported racing team set to launch in 2023. Having already established a strong relationship after many successful years together, this newfound partnership will see Waters manage the new-look Husqvarna Motorcycles supported racing team in a multi-year arrangement for the Australian ProMX Championship and Australian Supercross Championship. While Waters himself will race the MX1 class on the Husqvarna FC450 for the team, the remaining rider line-up will be announced in early 2023.

This past year was an exceptionally successful season for Waters after he finished third in the ProMX MX1 standings, claimed round wins in the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC), earned second in the E2 class at the Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE) and represented his country at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE). He was also runner-up in the Hattah Desert Race on debut.

To round out 2022, Waters also became a joint owner – with his cousin and long-term race mechanic, Jason – of the Gold Coast-based WP Suspension dealership, Raceline Performance, setting the wheels in motion for this exciting new team partnership with Husqvarna Motorcycles.

Kyle Blunden (Motorsport Manager, KTM Group Australia): “We’re very excited to be working hand in hand on this project with Todd and look forward to many successful years together. It is a natural progression for Todd. He and I have been discussing this for a while now, and the timing couldn’t be better. With everything Todd has going on in his professional life outside of racing, we are simply bringing many facets together to help create a high-performing environment where riders will no doubt thrive. With Todd at the helm, you can be guaranteed maximum effort and a lot of fun along the way. It’s a very exciting time for us all, and we look forward to what the future holds.”

Todd Waters: “Our new partnership with Husqvarna Motorcycles feels like a perfect fit for where I’m at in my career. After buying Raceline Performance several months ago, it made sense for us to continue racing from a marketing perspective. Having been riding for Husqvarna Motorcycles for a number of years, it was a perfect opportunity to align further with that brand and take on the race team. Everything lined up and it definitely feels nice to create an ecosystem that makes sense, so that when I go racing, I’m on the starting line representing my own brand and Husqvarna Motorcycles. 2023 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting year!”
