The 50th Anabranch Trail Ride
Do you remember (and miss) the good old days when you could only be a paid-up member of one motorcycle club at a time; when mid-week club meetings were a great excuse for a catch-up and quiet ale with the boys; and when you’d be guaranteed an excess of willing club members pitching in to help out at club events on weekends? Well, for some rural and regional motorcycle clubs, that old-school culture still exists. And there are few better examples of it than the Silver City Motorcycle Club at Broken Hill.
In early November, the Silver City boys will be staging the 50th anniversary of their annual Anabranch Trail Ride – a two-day, 470km ride from Broken Hill to Anabranch (a tributary of the Darling River in far south-west NSW) and back again, where countless hilarious stories will no doubt be swapped, and the prestigious Mr Anabranch Award will be dished out (won by the rider judged to put in the most stellar performance over the weekend, whether that be for their antics on or off the bike).
