Team Australia have been announced for its defence of the 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup in Wonthaggi, Victoria on March 22-23, with captain and multiple national champion Charli Cannon (Honda) joining forces with fellow motocross stars Taylah McCutcheon (Kawasaki), Taylor Thompson (KTM), Madison Healey (GASGAS) and Madi Simpson (Yamaha).

Defending its title against teams from New Zealand, Africa, and the USA, it’s Simpson who marks the new addition to the team which defeated New Zealand in last year’s inaugural event in Woodville, New Zealand. Emily Lambert has also been named the team’s reserve rider.

The 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup will run in conjunction with Round 1 of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, with the event featuring three motos across the weekend: a standalone team shootout, followed by two races integrated into the Ezilift ProMX Women’s Championship (MXW) across the weekend.

The point-scoring system allows each team to drop its worst result to determine the final standings and the overall winning team. The 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup and ProMX opener will kickstart a massive year for women’s motocross here down under, which will culminate in the first-ever Australian round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship in Darwin from September 19-21.

Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle:
“I’m delighted to see such a formidable team represent Australia in the second running of the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup. There’s something unique about team sports, including all the subtleties and nuances that go with the pursuit of success. Fine margins can also often decide the outcome, which makes it an even more exciting spectacle.Team Australia is a tight-knit group, and the riders will leave no stone unturned as they look to retain the trophy. I’d also like to welcome Team USA and Team FIM Africa into the expanded event, in what will be a huge weekend in Wonthaggi.”

Team Australia Manager, Mark Luksich:
“It’s terrific to see this event growing and, as the reigning champion, we know that Team Australia has a target on its back. With two additional teams joining in, this year’s competition is going to be even more intense. Our riders are ready for the challenge, and we’ll be working hard on strategy to ensure we give ourselves the best chance of securing the win.”
