SERCO’S 2018 YZ250F BIKE BUILD (PART 1)

4 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: MXstore

You’re probably familiar with the entertaining and informative ‘Wreckers to Checkers’ video series recently put together by the crew from MXstore. If not, the series basically documents the journeys of three MXstore staffers who each find an old bike (the ‘Wrecker’) and restore it within a strict budget to win themselves the ultimate bragging rights (the ‘Checkers’).

But what if the bike wasn’t old? And better still, what if there were no rules and no budget? Well, that’s exactly what the Serco Motorsport crew (who’ve run Yamaha’s official national MX2 team for the past 20 years) were thinking when they called Jena from MXstore and offered to give her 2018 YZ250F a pro-level performance makeover and some SPP bling bits for good measure. Yep, an offer too good to refuse! And she didn’t.

Part 1 – The Initial Contact: Watch the Serco crew completely tear into Jena’s YZ250F ready for its big makeover. From the Dyno to the workbench, to the water blaster, this bike gets worked on by every crew member and touched by nearly every tool in the race team’s workshop.
