Robbie Maddison’s Pipe Dream 2
Over a year ago, Robbie Maddison made his dream of riding his converted dirt bike on the ocean a reality, working with sponsor DC Shoes to produce Pipe Dream – a mind-boggling insight into what most thought impossible – and an arguably even more fascinating three-part behind-the-scenes doco about the shoot. Since then, he’s spent his time perfecting his ocean/dirt hybrid ‘craft’ and working towards a bigger goal: riding some of the biggest waves in the world. We set out to the legendary “Killers” break off of Isla Todo Santos, Mexico, to ride with Robbie as he attempted to catch 30-plus foot waves. And this time around, we reckon Maddo’s world distance record for riding on water actually trumps the wave riding.
