Review: Scott 450 Racewear

8 years ago | Words: Grant O'Brien

The 450 Patchwork riding gear is one of two new redesigned models recently released by Swiss company Scott Motosports. The gear is lightweight but durable, very comfortable, and offers great breathability.

WHY WE RATE IT

A big test for any dirt-bike gear is holding it in your hands for the first time and looking closely at how it’s been designed and stitched together. Attention to detail is important, and the new 450 Patchwork apparel from Scott passes the test instantly. Not only does it look and feel great, you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into making it.

The gear is quality in every way. The pants feature durable abrasion-resistant nylon, strategically placed ventilation panels, a large knee area to comfortably accommodate knee braces, stamped leather inner knees for durability, adjustable Velcro waist tabs, and silicone grip on the inner waistband to eliminate slipping while riding. What we liked right away is the shape of the pants and how well they fit. They feel snug on your legs, and comfortable while riding when standing and sitting.
The jersey follows from the same vein with its comfort and super lightweight feel. It’s fully ventilated and features a silicone printed no slip rear panel with a lycra collar, and taped cuffs to eliminate binding – or put more simply a snug fit around your wrists so the jersey sleeves don’t slide up your arms.

Completing the set is the 450 Patchwork glove with moulded airprene cuff and one-piece closure on the base of the wrist, and a Clarino™ leather palm built in for durability. Once again comfort and breathability is the focus and the gloves fit firmly while offering good flexibility for your fingers.
Overall, besides the eye-catching design of the Scott 450 Patchwork apparel, it’s the comfort and good air-flow the gear allows while riding in hotter conditions that stands out as the big plus for us. The gear just fits so nice, and it has a durable quality to it that makes you feel it will stand the test of time, and won’t tear easily like some of the other lightweight apparel on the market today.

If you’re looking for a set of gear that offers good protection, is reasonably priced and packed with quality features you’d expect from high-end apparel. We can confidently recommend trying the Scott 450 Patchwork racewear.
