New Product: Scott 550 Boot

After first venturing into the motocross market way back in 1970 with their original motocross-specific goggle, Scott has progressively branched out over the past 40 years into motocross boots, riding gear and accessories. And in that time, Scott’s motocross boots have evolved from their original, full plastic ski boot-inspired boot in the 1980s, right through to this legendary moto brand’s modern-day, completely overhauled 550 boot; an all-new model whose construction uses a hybrid of plastic and leather materials for the optimal combination of protection, comfort and feel.

Here’s Scott’s insight into the standout features of their 550 boot:

What is it?

It’s the result of a long R&D process that combined technical lab engineering and vigorous track testing. Focusing on the demands of riders, Scott has employed new innovations to enhance the boot’s mobility, comfort and overall responsiveness. Constructed in Italy, the 550’s lightweight design incorporates important features that heighten performance while warranting safety and durability.

Features

  • The entrance system allows the boot to open from both the lateral and the medial sides of the leg to accommodate a broad range of calf sizes. It also enables quick and easy entry and removal.

  • A Multi-Axial Pivot system in the ankle, which is designed to automatically align with the anatomy of the rider. This allows the boot to more closely match the natural movement of the ankle, while still providing ample protection against excessive flexion.

  • The flexibility of the ‘flex calf joint’ (the red panel visible on the rear of the upper) permits the boot to better conform to different leg shapes and increases the overall compression of the boot.

  • Replaceable Outsole Insert increases the boot’s durability and longevity.

  • Designed to simplify your foot’s entry and exit, the Easy Locking (aluminium) Buckles can be fastened/unfastened with minimal effort (only the use of thumb and forefinger).

  • The Rubber Grip Guard on the inside of the calf incorporates a layer of soft vulcanised rubber over a large surface area for optimal grip and durability.

Price

The Scott 550 boot is now available in black/green, white/orange and white in sizes US7/EU39 through US14/EU48 for an RPP of $599.95. For your nearest stockist, check out the Ficeda Motorcycle Accessories website.

We’ve now got a pair of Scott’s 550 boots to evaluate, so stay tuned for our review in the coming weeks.
