PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: DUNLOP MX54 TYRES
Dunlop’s all-new range of intermediate-hard terrain MX54 tyres has just been released in Australia, and they’re available in a range of MX, enduro and mini-bike sizings.
Dunlop is making a song and dance about their all-new Geomax MX54 range of intermediate-to-hard terrain tyres, and for good reason – because they feature a whole lot of new technology and are claimed to make big advances over the popular MX53 hoops they replace. But don’t be confused by the “MX” in MX54; these new intermediate-hard Dunlops are available in both 18- and 19-inch rears, along with a variety of mini-bike sizings.
So, how do these new Geomax MX54 tyres fit into Dunlop’s already extensive range? Here’s a snapshot of the information – along with a couple of helpful diagrams – that came in Dunlop’s recent MX54 PR pack…

INTERMEDIATE GRIP. HARD-PACK CONFIDENCE.
Built on the proven balance of grip, durability and versatility that made the Geomax MX53 a favourite, the all-new Geomax MX54 tyre delivers elevated performance, expanded terrain adaptability and increased confidence as tracks dry out and become more demanding.
For motocross riders racing and training on firmer tracks, the MX54 provides a dedicated solution that combines intermediate-terrain grip with enhanced hard-pack capability, making it the ideal choice when the track firms up.

KEY FEATURES & TECHNOLOGIES
Enhanced Tread Pattern: An increased land ratio enhances hard-pack performance, while a reduction in tread blocks and wider spacing between adjacent blocks helps maintain grip and traction in softer conditions. The result is dependable performance across a broader range of track surfaces.
Multiple Block Distribution (MBD): Dunlop’s Multiple Block Distribution (MBD) technology enhances ground contact feel and rider feedback, by laying out blocks in the circumferential direction in the middle to the shoulder area than the centre.
Progressive Cornering Block Technology: The Progressive Cornering Block Technology (PCBT Advanced) on the rear tyre uses a two-step block shape to improve slide control by utilising block flexibility, while increasing cornering grip through the enhanced edge effect.
High-Resilience Rubber Compound: Select rear sizes also feature Dunlop’s High-Resilience Rubber Compound (H-RRC), combining advanced polymers and fine-particle carbon technology to enhance traction, durability and long-term performance. Rear tread blocks are approximately 5% taller than the previous MX53, contributing to increased traction and wear resistance.
