EXPLAINER: DUNLOP’S EXPANDED OFF-ROAD RANGE

1 minute ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Made In Motion

Dunlop has never been shy of introducing new tyres – whether that’s integrating new technology to their existing tyres or launching entirely new models. So, when Dunlop decides to stage a media launch for a couple of all-new off-road tyre models – the first tyre launch we’ve ever attended – it’s a fair indication of just how significant they believe these new models are. Of course, we’re referring to Dunlop’s all-new Geomax EN92 and Geomax MX54 range of tyres, which were recently showcased on Transmoto’s channels.

But how do these landmark new models fit into Dunlop’s already extensive off-road tyres range? How much have off-road tyres evolved in the recent years, and how has that translated into performance or durability gains? What’s the difference between an aggressive knobby and DOT/FIM-approved tyre? And how do you go about choosing the right tyre for the sort of terrain you ride and/or race most?

At the recent media launch for Dunlop’s all-new EN92 end MX54 tyre ranges, Transmoto’s Andy Wigan threw all these questions at Dunlop Australia’s National Sales Manager, Jason Styman, and learned a hell of a lot in the process…
