MXGP – Round 8 France Results

The eighth Grand Prix of the 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship took place in Ernée, France over the weekend, where Red Bull KTM riders Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings obtained Overall victories and increased their lead in the MX1 and MX2 championship standings, respectively.

Having earned his first ever MX2 Qualification win, Australia’s Dean Ferris lined up his Monster Energy Yamaha in pole position for the opening moto in France. Ferris grabbed the holeshot, however the race was red flagged moments later due to a suspected malfunctioning start gate. The re-start would see Ferris lose his advantage as he emerged seventh on Lap 1. He held position until he was side-lined with a mechanical issue around the halfway mark. Determined to make amends, Ferris grabbed the holeshot in the second moto but lost the lead to Frenchman, Jordi Tixier. Ferris finished sixth Overall in the seocnd moto, and maintains sixth Overall in the MX2 championship standings.
