If you haven’t seen this young punk racing the MX Nationals you would have seen the many viral social media videos he has created. Riding for the CDR Yamaha racing team in 2017 Dylan Long has had an up and down year with an ongoing wrist injury forcing him to take time away from racing following Round 2 of the 2017 MX Nationals. But what is this Victorian racer like off the track? Well, let’s find out in this week’s instalment of ‘Meet the Athlete’.

If I didn’t race dirt bikes professionally, I’d probably be…
A BMX rider or Filmer.

Three things people don’t know about me are…

  1. I’m good at Gaming.
  2. I eat lots of Nando’s.
  3. I can beatbox.

The best thing about being a motocross athlete is…
Getting to do what I love every day.

My most memorable race was…
During my debut season aboard a 450 at the 2015 Nowra MX Nationals because I came away with my first race win in the premiere class and second overall for the day.

My fiercest rivalry is with…
Mike Alessi because he blocked me on Instagram [laughs].

If I was a series promoter, the first thing I’d do is…
Give myself a million dollars! [laughs] Only joking, I believe the series is already good, one minor thing I would do is not rip the start straights so deep at each round.

A funny story about my mechanic…
My mechanic Sam was warming up my bike rolling past me at walking pace when he decided to be funny and stand on the seat to surf the bike but that wasn’t such a smart idea! He crashed and bent my clutch lever (Luckily he fixed it).

I escape from the grind of training and racing by…
Going camping with mates or just my girlfriend and dog.

I’m obsessed about…
Eating Nando’s.

Don’t even start me about…
Cleaning air filters – I don’t think I need to say anything more, everyone knows the struggle [laughs].
