Jeff Leisk: A Video Tribute
After more than 25 years with KTM Australia, and the past 19 years as the company’s General Manager in Oz and NZ, Jeff Leisk spent his last day with the company yesterday; stepping away to embark on his next adventure in life. And to mark the milestone, the KTM Group released a classic tribute video about the man affectionately known as “The Flying Freckle”.
In addition to reflecting on Leisk’s remarkable career – both as a professional MX and SX racer, and as an innovative and successful motorcycle industry figure – the tribute video also includes some amusing anecdotes from a selection of Leisk’s friends and colleagues (people such as Roger DeCoster, Toby Price, Ricky Johnson, Greg Murphy, Colin Ross, and Rob Twyerould), who collectively paint a picture of a humble pioneer of the sport; a character who is both competitive and compassionate; and who the industry will dearly miss. The video – scripted by Grant O’Brien, edited by 6HD’s Ben McNulty, and narrated by V8 Supercar legend, Greg Murphy – was originally intended to screen only at a national dealer tour and special tribute dinner, organised to farewell Leisk. But when the pandemic forced the KTM Group to put those plans on hold, they decided to release it publicly.
