Defending Australian MX Nationals champion, Kirk Gibbs, will headline an all-star line-up at the 2016 Shannons Insurance Manjimup 15,000, set to take place at the picturesque Cosy Creek circuit in Western Australia on June 3-5.

Gibbs enters the event for the fourth time in as many years, and will be aiming to clinch his third consecutive win against a star-studded field, which will include KTM Motocross Racing teammates, Jesse Dobson and Caleb Ward, plus MX Nationals heavyweights, Yamaha’s Dean Ferris and Suzuki’s Todd Waters.

“It’s a fun race and a little bit more laid back for me, we love seeing all of the fans – they really love to watch good racing,” said Gibbs. “It will be a little bit harder this year with a few more faster guys, but I will try my best to make it three in-a-row. It’s exciting riding such an amazing track – I’ve watched videos of the Motocross of Nations there and walked through the clubrooms – so it’s so cool to be able to ride the track.”

In previous years, the Manjimup 15,000 has attracted riders from all around the world, and the 2016 edition will be no different as British rider, Jamie Law, leads the international charge along with Belgium’s Michael Velkeneers and American Nicholas Schmidt. In addition to the world-class line-up, local WA riders and MX Nationals regulars, Connor Tierney and Dean Porter, have also confirmed their entries.

With the 2016 event taking place over the June long weekend, Manjimup 15,000 promoter, Willie Thomson, spoke of the great value that race fans can expect. “Fans can expect non-stop action, great racing and entertainment over the whole weekend,” said Thomson. “Not only will we have great racing out on the track, we also offer great food vendors, clothing stalls, helicopter rides and camping for the duration of the weekend. We have six world-class riders confirmed and over 520 entries with three weeks remaining – it’s going to be a great event.”
