Maitland Motorcycle Club hosted Rnd3 of the Finance My Bike East Coast MX last weekend. Regardless of the wet year it’s been, all riders including the Nippers were making it around the track in what became more like a race of survival. There were a handful of pro riders competing on the weekend in preparation for Rnd5 of the 2022 Pro MX at Maitland later in June. Such as CDR Yamaha rider Aaron Tanti, who secured the overall with the most consistent finishes of 3-1-4-1 in MX Open. Husqvarna rider Dylan Wills was in contention for the overall win but had a couple crashes and only finished 7th in the final moto giving him 2nd overall. Matt Moss won the 3rd moto and had a couple 2nd places but a DNF in race 1 cost him a chance at the overall. KTM rider Kirk Gibbs was also battling for the podium with a 2nd and a couple 3rd places but was unable to contest the final moto. Privateer KTM rider Dylan Wood was cracking off gate and getting in front of his factory opponents battling up front and eventually settling for 5-5-5-4 taking 4th overall but more importantly the points lead in both the MX Open, but also the 450 Pro with back to back wins on Sunday as well.

Yamaha rider Taylor Thompson continued her domination of the Senior Women class even challenging most of the Vets riders combined in her class. KTM rider Max Compton was hot on the starts in the 12-15 85cc taking 2 wins and a 2nd place for the overall with fellow KTM rider Jack Deveson nipping at his heels only 3 points back in the championship. Promoter Michel Constantinou commented, “Even with the amount of rain that we had, the Maitland track held up in the conditions. Sunday was particularly difficult, could we have done better or done things differently? For sure, but hindsight is a wonderful thing, and we did the best with what we had and now we move on to the rescheduled Rnd2 of the Finance My Bike East Coast MX at Nowra on 18-19 June.”

Congratulations to the Rnd3 winners of Finance My Bike East Coast MX in Maitland.
