DUCATI XPEDITIONS: A PILGRIMAGE TO PHILLIP ISLAND

4 years ago | Words: Matt Holmes | Photos: Ducati Media House, Maschine

Ducati Australia & New Zealand and Maschine have teamed up to bring you an experience to remember on an adventure-oriented pilgrimage towards Phillip Island for the 2022 MotoGP. It’s a must-ride for all Ducatisti, especially those of the off-road variety (plus those keen to see Jack Miller for his last Aussie Ducati outing in MotoGP aboard the fire-breathing Desmosedici GP 22).

The four-day, all-inclusive guided tour begins in Bowral, deep in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Travelling south through both coastal regions and the high-country of NSW and Victoria, the riding will be challenging in places with many twisty forest roads and some long days in the saddle. Time will be split between sealed roads and flowing gravel roads with a sprinkling of more technical tracks to keep the adventure spirit high. The ride then comes to a close just a couple of hours from Phillip Island, in Marysville.

Evening accommodation is of the four-star variety with dinners and most breakfasts provided alongside full technical support, overnight luggage transport and of course first aid support. You will be free to ride at your own pace during the day, safe in the knowledge that you have support crew ahead opening the route and sweep crew coming along behind to help with any issues you may have.

Of course, it’s aimed at the adventure-ready Multistradas, Desert Sleds and (if you can get your hands on one by then), DesertX models. If you plan on going to the MotoGP race itself at Phillip Island, many of the Xpedition crew will be attending and they’ll happily provide route options to get you down to Phillip Island via some suitably epic back roads.

This is a group ride with a maximum of 35 riders jointly supported all the way by Ducati Australia & New Zealand and experienced motorcycle adventure tour operator, Maschine, so get in quick to secure this trip that’ll be one to remember.
