Coona 8-Hour Relocates … To Nabiac
Protracted drought has prompted the relocation of Coonabarabran’s June 29-30 Transmoto 8-Hour to the NSW Mid North Coast township of Nabiac; home to notoriously rich, dark, sandy soils of the Wallamba Valley. While the venue and race duration may have changed (the inaugural event at Nabiac will be a 6-Hour), the June 29-30 date remains unchanged.
“We really wanted to take the 8-Hour back to Coonabarabran; to build on the foundations we laid in 2017 at the world-class Goanna Tracks MX & Enduro Complex, and support the drought-stricken local community,” explained Transmoto Event Manager, Robbie Warden. “But the ongoing lack of substantial rain in the Central West region of NSW gave us little choice but to look for an alternative venue to ensure the enjoyment and safety of event participants.
“We’re stoked to say that the private property that’ll host the inaugural Transmoto 6-Hour at Nabiac ticks all the boxes for an awesome event. Nabiac is just three hours’ drive from Sydney, close to some epic surf breaks around Forster, and home to the famous National Motorcycle Museum,” Warden went on to say.
The 2019 Transmoto 6-Hour at Nabiac will use an extensive network of private property trails to create an all-new, one-off 17km loop. The unique race loop’s terrain is made up predominantly of sand-based trails through low-lying bushland, punctuated by open grasstrack sections and some fast firetrail, with a big, flat pit paddock that ingenuously incorporates a former RAAF airstrip.
Entries for the 2019 Transmoto 6-Hour at Nabiac, powered by Husqvarna, will go on sale in early May, so keep an eye on Transmoto’s social channels toward the end of April for details.
