AORC + ProMX = “Ultimate Dirty Weekend Extravaganza”

5 months ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Motorcycling Australia

With the 2021 calendars for both the national off-road and MX series announced in the past two weeks, the respective Management Team for the AORC and ProMX Championships have been busy. And last week’s follow-up announcement that selected rounds of each national series are set to be held in conjunction with each other at QMP in early August has certainly added some sizzle and special sauce. It’s a cool concept, made possible by the fact that MA now heads up the Management Team for both series, and (via Motorcycling Queensland) owns the venue. No wonder MA is billing it as “a three-day, two-wheeled ultimate dirty weekend extravaganza”!

Here’s last week’s PR from MA about the Queensland-based long-weekeend race festival…

Motorcycle fans will get the best of both worlds in 2021, with a three-day two-wheel ultimate dirty weekend extravaganza, which will feature the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) presented by MXstore, and the ProMX Championship, at Queensland Moto Park (QMP).

Fans trackside will be part of a historical event and get the ultimate experience over three days of spectacular action on August 6-8, which will showcase Australia’s world-class off-road and motocross riders as they battle it out on track in their respective championships.

The three-day weekend will feature Rounds 7 and 8 of the AORC (August 6-7) and Round 6 of the ProMX Championship (August 8). With large fields across all classes, this will be a tantalising event not to be missed for two-wheel fans.

In what is a first for the sport with two of the largest disciplines in AORC and PromMX coming together as one, Queensland Moto Park is set to be a spectacular venue for what will be an iconic event. From whipping it through the air on the motocross track to dodging trees in the bush, fans will be able to experience it all before their eyes.

With all 14 AORC Championship classes, and MX1, MX2, and MX3 ProMX Championship classes competing, there will be plenty of action from the smallest Juniors to the world’s best riders for the fans to watch.

“Motorcycling Australia is ecstatic to announce the final pieces of both the AORC and ProMX Championship calendars for 2021,” said MA CEO, Peter Doyle. “This event will be the ultimate off-road and motocross weekend and must-attend event in 2021 for Australian off-road and motocross fans. Significant work by both the AORC and ProMX Management Teams have secured this sensational event at QMP, which will provide spectacular racing from Australia’s best enduro and motocross riders.”

According to Motorcycling Queensland General Manager, Kim Rowcliffe, “We are very excited to be able to host the first event with two major Australian Championships events running alongside one another in the AORC and the ProMX, and we have a venue here at Queensland Moto Park that will set up a perfect three days. We know fans will be salivating at the chance to get to QMP for an ultimate weekend of action and we can’t wait to see them there.”

Further event details, race schedules and ticketing will be announced over the coming months.
