2011 Super X schedule announced

Global Action Sports (GAS), Monster Energy and Motorcycling Australia (MA) have today announced the 2011 Monster Energy Super X, the Australasian Supercross Championship, schedule that will visit five exciting new locations around Australia throughout October and November 2011.

Now in its fourth year, the pioneering series will kick off with its first ever event in Melbourne on Saturday October 22, then will head to Wollongong on Saturday October 29; Sydney (Campbelltown) on Saturday November 5; Hunter Valley (Maitland) on Saturday November 12 and conclude in South East Queensland (Ipswich) on Saturday November 19.

Managing Director of Global Action Sports, Michael Porra, said he was delighted to announce this year’s schedule and the company’s commitment to the series.

“I am pleased to confirm our continued investment and long term plans for the sport of supercross in Australia. GAS has invested millions of dollars into the series over the past three years and will continue to do so to ensure its growth in the future.

“We have been working incredibly hard on this year’s championship and we are looking forward to once again delivering a world class series to Australian supercross fans with exhilarating formats, international standard supercross tracks and high quality television coverage, which will be replayed one week after every round. We have some great venues confirmed and I am super excited that we will finally have a race in Melbourne.

“GAS has also responded to feedback from fans re ticket pricing and I am happy to announce that through our partnership with Monster Energy and MA, we have been able to offer far greater value to fans from 2011, with an all new and more affordable ticket price structure,” concluded Porra.

2010 Super X Open Champion, Josh Hansen.

CEO of Motorcycling Australia, David White, shared Porra’s enthusiasm and confirmed the continuation of GAS’s license to run the official Australian Supercross Championship.

“I’m thrilled at the outlook of the 2011 Australian Supercross Championship with Global Action Sports at the helm,” White said.

“The future of the sport is in good hands with everyone involved committed to the growth of supercross in this country and the development of Australian riders.”

Global energy drink brand, Monster Energy, has confirmed its long-term support for the series, resigning as naming rights sponsor. Australasian Manager, Adrian Hunter, said he is thrilled the company is continuing its involvement with Super X and is looking forward to a longstanding relationship with GAS and MA to showcase the world’s premier off -road motorcycle racing to Australian fans.

“Supercross has been at the heart of what we do at Monster Energy since day one, both here in Australia and worldwide. The intensity of the Super X format is what the core fans want to see, and we aim to give a taste of the globally renown AMA World Supercross Championship in the USA, with our sponsorship of the Australasian series.

“We will be working closely with GAS to ensure every Monster Energy Super X event is a personal experience for fans. For the first time we will have an event in all three capital cities on the east coast of Australia, with more intimate venues locked in so fans can get even closer to the action. The depth of Australian talent is getting better every year, and we aim to continue to develop the talent pool of riders coming out of Australasia by giving them the chance to race against the best riders in the country on the best custom built race tracks,” concluded Hunter.
