WP’s All-New (Closed) Cartridge Enduro Fork

5 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: KTM Images

After the release of the 2020 enduro model-ranges from KTM and Husqvarna, we talked a fair bit about the major setting changes made to their 48mm WP Xplor fork. We’ve also talked to the Authorised WP Suspension Centre, WP Newcastle, to get a handle on what various mod options to the OEM/standard WP Xplor fork and shock will cost. And we’ve tested WP’s factory-spec aftermarket Xplor Pro fork and shock back-to-back with the standard components to truly understand the performance gains the Xplor Pro suspension offers.

But why is it that WP doesn’t offer an upgrade option that sits somewhere in between the typical $400-$1200 the average owner spends on suspension mods, and the $8500 outlay required for a set of the top-shelf Xplor Pro suspension? Good question, and one that’s been frequently asked of WP. Well, WP final has an answer. And it comes in the form of WP Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge-kit fork – designed as a premium but affordable ($1950) performance upgrade for KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas enduro models.

Here is WP Suspension’s insight into their all-new Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge-kit fork…

WP Suspension is pleased to announce the launch of the new WP Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge. With highly innovative technology derived from countless successes in motorsports, the Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge combines premium performance upgrades with unparalleled accessibility. Addressing a whole community of off-road enthusiasts, WP Xplor Pro empowers KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas riders to reach their greatest potential.

For the WP Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge, there is no section of the track too hard, and with the input of the latest motorsport knowhow, this cartridge fork will take demanding riders all the way to the top. The built-in WP closed-cartridge technology – with its pressurized compartments – guarantees a consistent damping performance and prevents loss of damping on repeated hits. Thanks to the numerous and externally adjustable settings, the riders are always perfectly adapted to all off-road demands, even when conditions change at the last minute.

The Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge was developed to easily upgrade the bike utilizing the standard fork stanchions and improve the riding experience for high-toned off-road pilots significantly. Here’s how:

  • Improved feedback from the track in every riding situation
  • Pressurized system reduces cavitation risk – no damping loss
  • Extreme longevity due to the use of only high-quality materials
  • Specially handcrafted with highest care
  • All settings can be adjusted externally and flexibly
  • Spring preload fully variable

The WP Xplor Pro 6500 Cartridge will be available from mid-December in 2020 for an RRP of $1950 AUD, and available for the following models:
