Win Big @ Watagan Rally

Even if you haven’t ridden in the Watagan State Forest, you’ve probably heard about it, because – aside from the convenient fact it’s less than two hours’ drive north of Sydney – “The Watagans” is a pocket of mountainous riding paradise that’s home to some of the state’s most varied terrain. And a broad variety of terrain invariably brings a broad smile to the face of dirt bike enthusiasts.

Loamy gum-lined singletrail, ridgeline firetrails with sweeping vistas, dense rain forest, long rocky hill climbs, idyllic creek-crossings, picturesque pine forests, and whooped-out sandy gullies … the Watagans has it all. That’s why the region has forged a reputation as a dirt bike Mecca. And it’s also why the Watagan Trail Bike Rally has, for 14 years, been an annual winter pilgrimage for riders who like the idea of a weekend’s camping and riding with their mates, without the risk of a head-on.

And with KTM and Husqvarna coming on board as title sponsors for the 2017 Watagan Rally, there are even more reasons to be part of it. In addition to the regular swag of prizes (from the likes of Pirelli, Scott, Ipone, Barkbusters, Airoh, Contour Cameras, Five Clothing and Force Accessories), all pre-paid entries this year also go in the running to win their choice of any bike in KTM’s or Husqvarna’s enduro model-range, along with $1000 worth of genuine parts and accessories. Plus local dealership, Powersport Central Husqvarna, will be running a demo program at event, giving entrants the opportunity to sample the full range of 2017 Husky models.

The entry fee includes on-site camping, Sunday breakfast and lunch, trade displays, an official event T-shirt, and 80km and 30km loops – open on Saturday and Sunday – with ‘easy’, ‘hard’ and ‘expert’ sections to make sure riders of all abilities are catered to.
So rally your mates, grab your swag, pack the camp oven and get set for cracker of a weekend on August 5-6 in the Watagan Mountains. Discounted early-bird entries ($170) are available before July 21, after which prices revert to $185.

For more information and online entries, check out the Watagan Trail Bike Rallly’s dedicated website.
