A Weekend at the Academy of Off-Road Riding

Meet Annika Mountstephens; a keen MTB rider from Sydney, who’s about to head overseas for a two-wheeled Cambodian off-road adventure. The catch? She doesn’t have a great deal of dirt-bike experience under her belt, and taking a ‘she’ll-be-right’ approach when travelling to southeast Asia probably isn’t the smartest idea.

So, that’s why Annika signed herself up for a weekend of tuition at the Academy of Off-Road Riding in Buckenbowra, NSW. Annika’s aim going into the weekend was to build up her confidence on a bike, and learn a few ins and outs of motorcycle safety that will help her get the most out of her trip. Check out the video to see what her experience was like, tackling obstacles like logs and river crossings that she’s never encountered before.

The Academy of Off-Road Riding, supported by Yamaha Motor Australia, was founded in 1978 by Australian motocross icon, Stephen Gall, and is currently owned and operated by former national motocross champion, Lyndon Heffernan (with help from his two sons, Jack and Dean, and Jason Cater).
