TRIUMPH’S MX DREAMS

1 year ago | Words: Matt Holmes | Photos: Matt Holmes + MidJourney

Back in 2022, Triumph made their MX intentions well known to all; to tackle the MXGP series as a MX2 factory team as early as 2024. Their plan to release a 250cc four-stroke – while developing a 450 alongside it for release the following year – means that we are now getting very close to seeing what the Hinkley-based Triumph factory has in store.

Much like the ever-growing Ducati MX rumour mill, there ain’t a lot of solid info out there about the Triumph, but many a rumour is circulating – the best to date being that a release to the public imminent with Triumph keen to showcase the bike to the public as early as possible, and get that hype train rolling. However, no official statement has been issued by Triumph regarding the release of the prototype or production-based models.

Regardless, the news of Triumph’s entry into the motocross market has brought even more hype to the sport and industry. And we, the punters, are keen AF to get a glimpse of what the British company has in store for us – especially when Ricky Carmichael, Triumph’s Global Off-Road Ambassador, is so enthusiastic about the project.

“Since the start of this project with Triumph, I have been amazed at just how hard everyone has been working,” RC explained. “It must not go without mentioning, the whole R&D and engineering group that have been a part of the development of the motorcycles have done an absolutely incredible job. From the first stages of the prototypes, I was really taken aback at how good the performance was. And since then, being in the UK testing the newest developments, I can tell you that it has the capabilities of winning at the highest level, and I personally believe the riders, from professional to amateur, across the entire range of off-road models, will really like what has been developed!”, Carmichael went on to say.”

So, with a very conspicuous lack of any credible images available, we took to the wonders of Generative AI in the form of MidJourney to mock up some vibes of what Trumpy’s motos might look like. Which is your favourite?
