TRIUMPH’S FARRES DOMINATES PORTUGAL

Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has dominated the MX2 class at the MXGP of Portugal with a perfect double victory across the two races aboard his TF250-X. Competing at the Agueda circuit for Round 10 of the 2026 campaign, Farres’ result came one day after winning the first qualifying race of his career. The Spaniard’s maximum point score has greatly reduced his deficit to the championship leader, while teammate Camden McLellan also performed well and placed sixth overall.

Having placed second overall last weekend in Italy, Farres had momentum on his side heading into the Agueda circuit round, which was clearly to the 23-year-old’s liking with its sandy surface, hard base, sizeable jumps, and multiple line choices. In the opening moto, Farres rounded the first turn up front and narrowly missed the holeshot. Able to hold a tight inside line into the second corner, he moved into first and then began to break away from the chasing pack. Throughout the race, Farres was simply faultless, maintaining his margin and going on to pick up his sixth moto win of the season.

Farres claimed the holeshot in the second race and once again proved himself as the class of the field in Portugal. Gradually building up a comfortable lead as the race continued, Farres won the moto by over 10 seconds ahead of championship leader Sacha Coenen to claw more points back on his title rival, and claim his second Grand Prix win of the year. Leaving Agueda, Farres remains second in the championship and sits 32 points behind Coenen with nine rounds remaining.

With four consecutive overall podiums leading into Portugal, McLellan was focused on making it five in a row. Frustratingly, it wasn’t to be for the South African who was forced to battle through the field in both motos on a heavily watered race track. McLellan’s 4-5 result secured sixth on the day and he slips to fourth in the series, but just two points from third. Up next for Triumph Factory Racing after another winning weekend is Camden’s home race in South Africa, which takes place next weekend in Johannesburg.

“It was an amazing weekend here in Portugal. To come away with a perfect 1-1-1 score is exactly what we were aiming for, so I’m really happy with how everything came together. I got two good starts on Sunday, which made a big difference, and from there I was able to manage both races, control my pace, and make smart decisions. The bike was working really well and I felt comfortable all weekend. A huge thank you to the team for all of their hard work. The goal now is to keep this momentum going and fight for results like this at every round.”

Camden McLellan:
“It was a pretty tough Sunday, to be honest. I never really found a good feeling with the track all weekend and just didn’t quite feel like myself out there. On the positive side, I came away healthy, and a 4-5 score for sixth overall isn’t too bad for the championship. There are still some good points to take from the weekend. Now the focus is on next weekend and my home Grand Prix. Hopefully we can rebound there, get back to where we know we can be, and start the second half of the season on a strong note.”
