Transmoto’s 2015 AORC Sponsorship

The Transmoto 19 & Under Class was one of the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship’s (AORC) resounding success stories. Introduced in 2014 for the same reasons it was brought into the MX Nationals a few years ago – as a stepping-stone to help bridge the gap between being a hero in Juniors and a zero in the Pro ranks – the new class attracted 52 young off-road racers throughout the 12-round 2014 series. It proved the perfect opportunity for young riders to peg their lap times against each other and the sport’s elite in the Outright rankings, rather than being disheartened by finishing way down the order in the Pro E1, E2 or E3 classes. Incredibly, seven 19 & Under riders finished in the top-20 Outright at the season opener (Daniel Sanders, Tom Mason, Broc Grabham, Kane Hall, Nick Lean and Liam Clover), and four of them were still there by the end of the season – a result that augers very well for the future of the sport in Australia.

And that’s why Transmoto has pledged its ongoing support as naming-rights sponsor for the 19 & Under class for season 2015, which kicks off this weekend in Queensland. According to Transmoto’s Andy Wigan, who was one of the driving forces behind the introduction of the AORC back in 2005, “The MXD has proved a successful stepping-stone class in the MX Nats in recent years and – because the transition from Juniors to Seniors in enduro is even more difficult than it is in motocross – I believe the AORC’s 19 & Under class will play a key role in the ongoing development of Australia’s young off-road riding talent. In the 10 years since its inception, the AORC has helped take Australian riders from mid-packers to regular podium place-getters on the EWC and ISDE world stages. And the 19 & Under class is a great way to help young riders accumulate off-road racing experience at a highly competitive national level without being discouraged when making the big step between Junior and Senior classes.”

Aside from advertising support for the AORC series itself, Transmoto’s sponsorship will guarantee additional exposure (by way of interviews and image galleries) for a cross-section of participants in the 19 & Under class throughout the series, and a marquee online interview with the class winner at the end of the season.
