TODD WATERS TALKS MAXXIS ENDURO TYRE R&D

How did Australia’s ProMX and AORC racer, Todd Waters, get the opportunity to develop an all-new enduro tyre for Maxxis? What was it like to collaborate directly with Maxxis’ Taiwanese engineers and technicians? How the hell do you even approach an R&D program to create a new and improved knobby tyre? What did he learn about tyre construction and its effect on performance? And how happy is he with the final product; the all-new Aussie-spec 120/90-18 MX-IH (Intermediate-Hard terrain) that Waters has already used to win both AORC and A4DE races in a variety of conditions?

We sat down with the 31-year-old Waters to get the answers to those questions, and get treated to a fascinating backstory into the development process that went into this impressive new 18-inch rear hoop from Maxxis…
