Rumours are flying hot that in 2016, New Zealand’s Ben Townley will make a full-time return to MXGP racing with the new-look Suzuki outfit, led by ten-time World Champion, Stefan Everts. Word on the street is that the 30-year-old is close to inking a deal, which will see him return to Europe in early January to begin 2016 preparations. It would be a fairytale return to the MXGP series for the 2004 MX2 World Champion, getting his mojo back in 2015, thriving in his return to competitive racing, now set to make a full-time comeback. The motocross fraternity in NZ has been buzzing with the gossip this past week, and the rumours are getting stronger by the day. For more information, read this week’s NZ Insider column.

Motorcycling Australia has announced that Horsham in Victoria will host the 2017 Australian Junior Motocross Championship (AJMX). The event, which will be hosted by the Horsham Motorcycle Club, is earmarked to take place in late September. Horsham Motorcycle Club President, Kenny Watts, said the club was once again looking forward to hosting the AJMX after successfully accommodating the event in 2013. “Back in 2013, we created the format that has run over the past couple of years at the Australian Junior Motocross Championship, and we think we can still improve that a little bit more,” Watts said. “We’re aiming to run it on the traditional weekend of the AFL Grand Final at the end of September, which fits in with the school holidays for basically everyone.” The announcement of the 2017 AJMX makes it a double coup for the Horsham Motorcycle Club, which is also set to host the FIM Junior World Motocross Championship at the Dooen Recreational Reserve in 2018.

The final round of the 2015 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series took place at Ironman Raceway in Indiana over the weekend. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Josh Strang claimed his third win of the 2015 season to take home second Overall in the championship standings. “Today went well!” said an excited Josh Strang. “It was nice to finish off the year with a win. The track was fun and I felt like I rode well. My bike and team has been awesome all year and I can’t wait to start testing my new 2016 Husqvarna and get ready for next year!”

The 2015 Perth International Endurocross event was staged over the weekend, alongside the 2015 Perth Motorcycle Show. Staged at the historic Claremont Showgrounds, American Kyle Redmond won the event ahead of Australia’s Daniel Sanders and World Champion, Graham Jarvis. Australia’s Clinton Moore was crowned the winner of the 2015 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour in Abu Dhabi late last week after winning the finale, capping off a sensational season in the world’s most prestigious freestyle motocross tour with three wins to finish just ahead of Tom Pagès. The Australian kept his nerves in check against 2013 World Tour champ, Pagès, beating the Frenchman in their head-to-head battle in the Quarter finals on a technical track set-up on Abu Dhabi’s famous Corniche waterfront just off the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf. Detailed results from the event can be found here.

It’s been a super busy few months for Jackson Strong and Transmoto‘s Ben Heidrich, spending nearly every day planning and shooting scenes for the next Headstrong film, while Jacko has also been working on a new world-first trick to try at the AUS-X Open later this month. Amongst all that action, Richard Wilson from Metal Mulisha managed to pull the boys away from NSW for a couple of weeks to be part of the Metal Mulisha Ocotillo Wells Halloween Jam. The boys jumped on a plane to California and had a blast over there. Read all about it in this week’s FMX Insider column.
