Throwdown No.220 – 04/01/15
Transmoto’s Throwdown, presented by Toyota. Unbreakable Hilux. Unbreakable in all conditions.

We’re just hours away from the opening round of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, so we’re going to keep this week’s Throwdown article short and sweet. All good? Good. Biggest news coming in right now is that Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Wil Hahn won’t be racing Anaheim 1, as he went down hard in a practice crash and has injured his right arm. Check out the footage below – it’s pretty nasty. Another Kawasaki-mounted rider that won’t be contesting A1 as originally planned is Australia’s Jake Moss, who broke his leg just days ago in America. It’s a real bummer for the blokes.

Jake Moss may be out, but we’ll still have a really good Aussie representation on the line. Discount Tire Racing’s Chad Reed is looking more hungry than ever, and many are tipping that he’ll be able to clinch the Main Event, even going up against the likes of Ryan Dungey, Ken Roczen, Trey Canard, Davi Millsaps, Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac and many, many more. Other Aussies contesting A1 include 2013 and 2014 MX and SX champ, Suzuki’s Matt Moss, as well as Adam Monea, Brett Metcalfe and Jackson Richardson. Best of luck, fellas.
UPDATE: Adam Monea will sit out A1, hoping to race next weekend…

Did you know that the rider who won the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener has gone onto become champion 17 times, and in 32 of the series’ 40 seasons, the eventual champion appeared on the podium at the season opener? And did you know that Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey are the only two riders contesting A1 who have previously won 450SX titles? For more interesting Anaheim 1 insights, click here.

Competing in the 450SX Class for the first time will be Dean Wilson, Cole Seely, Jason Anderson and Blake Baggett. Transmoto’s Jackson Reardon whipped up a little article on the riders’ careers and made a couple of predictions for their 2015 seasons ahead of Anaheim 1. Click here to check it out.
