Testimonial: Goggleman RX Adaptor
Anyone who wears glasses can vouch for how much of a difference they can make to one’s life. The increased clarity and definition can help in day-to-day life, sports and recreational activities. However, playing sport and wearing glasses won’t always make for a winning combination. Many tend to wear regular glasses, which introduces a lot risks; they can fall off, fog up or be knocked, scratched or broken, and even cause injuries upon impact. For this reason, some people tend to not wear glasses at all, even when they should be.
The Prescription RX Goggle Adaptor from Goggleman is the ultimate solution for anyone who needs to wear glasses, but doesn’t like using contact lenses or regular spectacles whilst riding. Fitted securely into the cavity of the wearer’s goggle, just behind the goggle’s screen, the Prescription RX Goggle Adaptor is a much safer and much more comfortable alternative to wearing spectacles and contact lenses behind goggles, and offer the wearer a fog-free and large field of view.
So, how does the Goggleman system perform on a racetrack? We contacted Danny Sherwell – an Aussie enduro racer from Victoria who wears glasses – after completing the 2016 Finke Dessert Race to get his take on the Prescription RX Goggle Adaptor from Goggleman.
Transmoto: First of all, can you tell us a bit about yourself, Danny?
Danny: I began riding at the age of six on board a Honda Z50 and progressed my way though bikes until I started racing at 15 on board a Yamaha YZ250F. Luckily for me, my dad and uncle used to race so I have always had them there supporting me, pushing me to do my best and more. I was fortunate enough to be brought up on a farm, so every opportunity I got I was busy riding on my own track. Throughout the years, I have mainly focused my time on motocross – contesting local races, regionals and the Victorian titles – but over the past two years I have been doing enduros, and I have completed both Finke and Hattah Desert Races.
Tell us about your most recent Finke Desert Race experience.
I started my Finke adventure under the impression that it was going to be a challenge, but never imagined quite how straining it would be; mentally, physically and financially! 2016 was my first time completing the race, and my goal was simply to finish – and I thought it would be awesome to finish in the top-100. On the second day of the race, I had a crash which led to me getting slightly concussed and braking my collarbone pretty badly. I ended up coming 85th Outright.
Okay, so how long have you been using the Prescription RX Goggle Adaptor from Goggleman?
Approximately three years now. Before I found out about the products that Goggleman offers, I rode without any prescription eyewear.
And has the product made a massive difference to the way you ride?
I never really new how bad my sight was until I got myself the RX Adaptor, and now, looking back on riding without them, I wonder how I pushed myself as far as I did. It was a danger to myself and others who shared a racetrack with me. Now that I have the RX Adaptor, I feel confident and I’m not afraid to push my limits.
Many riders that wear prescription glasses either place their glasses underneath their goggles or go without them altogether. What would you say to those riders?
I spent years riding with poor vision, and it’s definitely not worth putting your own safety or the safety of others on the line. Wearing glasses underneath your goggles is uncomfortable, dangerous, and it can also burn a big hole in your pocket if you break them. The best thing I ever did was call Dave and the team at Goggleman and order my RX Adaptor. If you ride and wear glasses, I highly recommend giving Goggleman a go. They’ve been an awesome company to deal with from day one, providing fast, professional service and a high-quality product.
Thanks for your time, Danny. Enjoy your riding.
Will do, cheers!
