TESTED: 2023 KTM 125, 250 & 300SX 2-STROKES

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Cade Media / Flightcraft

With changes to literally 95% of their components, KTM’s entire 2023 MX-bike range has taken big steps forward in power, handling, ergos and rideability. But it’s the two-strokes that are the real stars of the show in 2023, with KTM radically updating its 125SX, 250SX and all-new 300SX two-strokes.

So, which of the bikes’ many changes has had the biggest impact on how they now feel to ride? Is it the all-new “anti-squat chassis” concept, which pays big handling dividends on these lightweight two-dingers? Or is it the all-new fuel-injection system (which uses dual injectors in the throttle body, not the transfer ports, plus an electronic power-valve), which transforms the way these machines deliver their power? And is the first ever 300SX model genuinely faster than its quarter-litre sibling, or more of a design folly that’s aimed at those who prefer to ride than race? We answer these questions and more after sampling these three landmark models at KTM’s recent media launch in Queensland.
