Rosco Holden’s Historic Museum
Industry mainstay, Rosco Holden has announced the opening of the Motocross, Enduro & Dakar Museum in Horsham, Victoria.
Motorcycling Australia caught up with the always affable, Rosco Holden, for a brief chat about how his idea for the Museum. Rosco said “It’s about giving everyone the opportunity to come and enjoy the displays of MX, Off-Road & Dakar memorabilia. It’s my personal collection, that I have been fortunate to accumulate over a long period of time, preserving our proud dirt history is paramount! Display’s such as this are long overdue, as there is nothing specific in terms of similar museums that are dedicated to Off-Road, which is crazy given how popular dirt riding is in this country!
On display is a lot of rare and precious memorabilia from Rosco’s old days of Motocross, Enduro and Dakar racing, jerseys from previous legends of the sport that have all been beautifully framed and documented feature prominently, race bikes, number plates, helmets and the like. This first stage in the development of the display is well over $100,000 worth of memorabilia – and counting! “I’ve always had the idea for the museum in the back of my mind and was always going to head down this path of wanting to make sure that we are looking after our past. Unfortunately, many old motorcycles and tonnes of irreplaceable memorabilia was thrown out back in the day, or simply deteriorated over time. It is all those old memories and artefacts that you simply can’t buy or see on display anymore.” said Rosco.
