Review: Vortex X10 ECU
A product the Transmoto team has tried and tested, and would recommend to a mate…
WHAT IS IT?
The Vortex X10 ECU is an aftermarket engine management system. It’s available for a wide range of Japanese and European motocross and enduro models.
HOW WE RATE IT:
The impact of fitting the Vortex ECU will depend on the particular bike. But for the 2013 Husaberg FE350 we fitted it to (which runs the same engine as KTM’s 350EXC-F), the Vortex transformed the power delivery. By filling the ‘hole’ the 350 tends to have at lower revs (relative to the 450s), the Vortex creates a more linear, versatile and forgiving power curve, with better throttle response and more overrev. It also reduces the bike’s engine braking, which makes it easier to ride on technical descents. The bar-mounted switch allows OTF changes to pre-programmed curves, while the ‘fuel trim’ dials let you emulate jetting tweaks. All this at a cost that’s comparable to pipe, cam and head mods.
PRICE:
$769 (& $55 for the switch)
