Review: TCX Track Evo Boots
WHAT IS IT?
It’s the latest and most aggressively priced ‘touring/adventure’ boot from Italian boot specialist, TCX. It comes in Euro sizes 41 through 48, and only in the Anthracite/Grey colour.
WHY WE RATE IT
Without being weighed down by the excess of protective panels you find on full-blown motocross boots, dual-purpose boots always tend to feel light and comfortable by comparison. But with its contoured suede leather upper, these new Track Evo boots from TCX are the most comfortable pair of kicks we’ve ever worn on a dirt bike. There’s no break-in period; your feel for the pedals is instantly there; the three-buckle closure system is simple and effective; and the judiciously placed PU protection for your shin and ankle-bones doesn’t stop the boot from moulding to your foot’s shape perfectly.
We were also impressed with the fact the boots are genuinely waterproof (and once you’ve ridden all day in wet socks, you’ll really appreciate that feature), and how the decent-sized steel shank in their sole allows you to comfortably stand on the pegs for long periods. Meanwhile, the sole material itself is grippy and long-wearing – after 3000km and 100 hours’ riding, it’s barely showing signs of wear. If you’re heading on a more serious off-road adventure, it’s worth considering TCX’s up-specced X-Desert boots, which come with a reinforced heel and toe and heavier-duty buckles. But for dual-purpose riding, the stylish-looking Track Evo boots represent great value for money.
