Reflecting: Kurt Caselli

7 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

Kurt Caselli sure wasn’t your typical stay-at-home all-American dirt bike rider. The likeable Californian was a pioneer who raced all over the world and inspired everyone he came into contact with, whether they rode dirt bikes or not. He was the guy who Australia’s Toby Price credits for his Factory KTM team deal and subsequent Dakar Rally success. And he was the driving force behind Team USA’s involvement in the ISDE since 2003. If only Kurt could have been around to witness his countrymen creating history by winning the ISDE last month in Spain.

On this day, November 16, three years ago, Kurt lost his life in a crash at the Baja 1000. So today, we reflect on the man’s life and achievements via the feature article we published on Kurt back in late 2011, in Transmoto’s issue #16.
