🎥 Project Bike: Husqvarna FE450

Having spent the past eight months with a 2017-model Husqvarna FE450 on our project bike fleet, we’ve already published standalone articles about the bike’s power delivery, suspension performance, a bunch of small but important observations about components on the new bike, and explained the parts we fitted. So let’s go into more detail about the parts and accessories we fitted (for added protection, enhanced performance, or just to bling it up) and why.

Protection Parts Fitted

This Husky comes with quality componentry throughout, but for the tech terrain we often expose our project bike to, beefing up its protection is ‘insurance’ money well spent.

Performance

In standard trim, this new-gen FE450 has more than enough usable power. So instead of looking for more grunt, we focused on customising the cockpit and ride. We reckon that upgrades to the tyres, seat, rear brake disc and bar mounts represent some of the best bang-for-your-buck bolt-ons.

Bling & Minor Issues

Who doesn’t love a bit of bling? It can give a bike that little ‘factory’ touch or turn it from looking good to over-the-top in a heartbeat. Here are a few parts we judiciously chose from the Husqvarna Accessories catalogue. Plus, we outline a couple of issues – with the clutch and plastics – that owners ought to keep an eye on.
