Product: TomTom Bandit Action Camera
Editing downtime is now a thing of the past thanks to the TomTom Bandit action camera, which has a built-in media server that can process and edit videos in minutes.
The TomTom Bandit has a wide-angle lens and a 16MP sensor. The removable battery offers up to three hours of continuous shooting, and the whole unit is waterproof to a depth of 50m, removing the need for an additional case.
The built-in media server means users do not need to download footage before they can edit it. Motion and GPS sensors allow it to automatically find and tag exciting moments based on speed, altitude, G-Force and acceleration. If the user is wearing a TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio GPS Watch, increases in their heart rate can also be used to detect exciting moments. Alternatively, users can tag highlights manually, using the tagging button on the camera or the remote control.
The smartphone App can be used to review the footage and edit together the best clips to make a continuous video. Users can then make manual changes, and add music and graphical overlays of their favourite metrics, such as speed, before sharing with friends.
“With all existing action cameras you first need to download gigabytes of footage to a powerful PC, a process that can take a long time,” said Slobodan Stanisic, lead engineer at TomTom. “Then you need to find the highlights, put together a story and format it. We know this often takes hours. Not with the TomTom Bandit. We have designed a camera where the footage is processed on the camera itself, making the editing process far easier and much faster.”
Transmoto test pilot, Darren Lamb, recently took a TomTom Bandit to the 2015 Sunny Corner Trail Bike Rally, and was able to tag his best moments out on the trail, edit up a one-minute video on his smartphone and send it to us, pretty much ready to upload to YouTube, before the event was even close to being finished. Check out the footage below.
