Product: DNA Stage 2 Air Filter Kit
You can get good power gains from the 2015 WR250F by removing the mesh in its air filter cage to promote airflow, but a Greek company called DNA has designed a product that, in effect, does the job for you (well, DNA makes a wide range of filters, but they work particularly well for Yamaha’s new-gen YZ250/450F and WR250F). You simply unbolt the Yami’s standard cage and replace it with the DNA’s metal frame, into which the DNA air filter element is fastened. Unlike conventional foam filters, the DNA unit is made from four layers of surgical cotton gauze, sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated, marine-grade aluminium mesh. It’s claimed to offer superior airflow and dust filtration than foam. At $150, DNA’s Stage 2 Quick Release Air Filter Kit is more expensive than foam, but it’s designed to be longer lasting and comes with a lifetime warranty. At worst, this product makes you question the long-held assumption that the best air filters to use in dirt bikes are made from foam.
